The Star Citizen Launcher includes a music player and graphics which may need certain versions of Windows system update files. Always use the 'Verify' button after checking Library Folder path. Once you have downloaded the game files, and you have to troubleshoot, DO NOT HIT UPDATE or INSTALL. There is never any need to re-download the whole game. It will find your game files and update as necessary. Now open the Launcher - Settings - Check the 'Library Folder' directory path and hit Verify. Move your StarCitizen game folder and contents from where-ever it was previously to your Star Citizen game root folder.
Now re-Install the RSI Launcher version 1.2 remembering to install to your chosen root game directory as above. Un-install the RSI Launcher group of programs. This will delete all your account information and install path data, you will need to re-sign in the next time you run the Launcher and add any 2FA required.Īt the desktop click the task bar Windows Icon and open Settings - Control Panel - Programs and Features. In that folder are two folders called 'RSI Launcher' and 'rsilauncher' - delete them both. Once closed open a Windows File Explorer folder and in the address bar type %AppData% and hit enter.Ī folder called 'Roaming' will open. If you have a previous install of the game (Even if it failed to scan verify) - DO NOT DELETE THE STARCITIZEN FOLDER or it's contents.Ĭlose the Launcher, make sure it is not still running in the background by clicking near your clock on the task bar. Unfortunately it will put the downloaded files where you previously told it to, inside the wrong folder or on a drive that it is not allowed to scan, and so you end up with an install fail loop, the game downloads, scan fails, game downloads again, and again, and again.) \* If there is a StarCitizen folder inside the RSI Launcher folder you have screwed up, and the Launcher cannot scan inside it's own directory - the game integrity files scan will fail and it will try to install again.
If you plan to install to a drive that is not the Operating System default install path drive then you need to check the following. This means the game install will fail, or any update will fail to behave as expected.
The integrity scan that the Launcher does is seen as suspicious activity by Windows 10 and so it will always fail if the Launcher and game files are on different drives - giving the Launcher Admin rights will not change this. Windows User Account Control will not let any program installed to one physical location scan files on another drive if it is not a recognised anti-virus. If you choose the default path - C:/Program Files/Roberts Space Industries/ - then you will see that inside that folder are two folders called 'RSI Launcher' and 'StarCitizen'. The Launcher Install folder path and game files install path both have to be in the same directory on the same physical drive.
